DIY Tapestry Table

Kristin's table
I was so excited on a recent visit to Kleas, a favorite blog, to see that the clever Kristin had designed her very own Tapestry Table modeled after the one I use in my classroom!  I have gotten so many questions over the years about how to make one.  Now, I'm happy to finally have the answer.

She took the top off an old table, staple gunned on some burlap, and started sewing!  I have to admit, I'm a little jealous of the size of hers - you could get a lot of kids around that table.
My table
If you've been reading Sewing School for awhile, you know about my love for the Tapestry Table. It's a wonderful introduction to sewing and allows for a collaborative work of art.

Several years ago, I was given a surprise sum of money and told to "spend it on something that you never thought you could buy for your classroom."  Sadly, the tables are no longer being made, but now, you can make your own.
sewing under the table is a favorite thing to do!
Just think of the possibilities!
